Keeping Germany’s largest airport running smoothly requires perfect coordination – and flawless communication. To achieve this, Fraport AG opted for XPhone Connect.
With almost 70 million passengers and more than 2 million tonnes of cargo every year, Frankfurt Airport is a logistical and organisational challenge on a massive scale. To master this, seamless communication is key.
Since 2017, the operator of Germany’s largest airport has relied on the Unified Communications solution XPhone Connect. “XPhone has brought a huge comfort gain for our employees,” says Stefan Weckbecker, Consultant for Telecommunications Products at Fraport AG. “The entire telephony can now be controlled with a mouse click. Direct operation on the desk phone has become practically irrelevant.”
XPhone Connect brings together all contacts – whether from the central Fraport directory or personal Outlook folders – and makes them instantly available via free-text search. Incoming calls are displayed with names right from the first ring. Time-consuming searches and repeated questions are a thing of the past. From CTI and call journals to chat: “With the broad range of features, there’s something for everyone that makes daily work noticeably easier,” says Weckbecker.
Take the Team Panel: it gives employees an instant overview of colleagues’ availability. Each user decides which contacts are displayed. Calls can be started or transferred with a click – a massive time-saver, especially for secretarial teams.
Other functions such as screen sharing and AnyDevice are currently being tested by IT for future use:
“With AnyDevice, any phone can be controlled via the Connect Client – a perfect support for home office scenarios. I’m certain this feature will be well received by our colleagues.”
But features alone didn’t drive the decision: “XPhone Connect can be used independently of PBX systems and end devices. That gives us the flexibility we need – especially when it comes to future investments,” Weckbecker emphasises.
Ease of administration and excellent support were also decisive. “The administration is extremely well thought-out. Setting up new users can be almost fully automated. Other solutions require much more configuration effort – XPhone has convinced us across the board!”
